Staff Sergeant Erik Johnson Sr. has dedicated over two decades to protecting and serving the people of Calcasieu Parish and the Town of Iowa, building a career defined by an unwavering commitment to public safety and genuine community engagement.

His journey in law enforcement began in 2005 with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, where he developed deep expertise in corrections and operational supervision. In 2013, he brought that experience to the Iowa Police Department, where he currently serves as a Staff Sergeant. Throughout his tenure, Erik has mentored new officers through the Field Training Program, served as a dedicated School Resource Officer, and championed the principles of community policing.

These years of service have instilled in him a profound understanding that true leadership is built on a foundation of trust, accountability, and open communication. Erik’s devotion to his neighbors extends well beyond his duties in uniform, as he actively shapes local policy and support systems through his roles on the Iowa Fire District 1 Ward 8 Protection Board of Commissioners, the Calcasieu Parish Council on Aging Board of Directors, and the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Human Services Advisory Board.

His academic and professional foundation is equally robust, beginning at Washington-Marion Magnet High School and continuing through studies at Grambling State University and McNeese State University.

A graduate of both the Calcasieu Parish Regional Correctional and Training Academies, Erik holds numerous specialized certifications, including Louisiana POST, ALERRT, and L.E.A.D. Instructor credentials.

Guided by his faith as a licensed and ordained minister at New Faith Baptist Church of Lake Charles, Erik approaches every challenge with a spirit of compassion and servant leadership.

At the heart of his life is his family; he and his wife, Lacy Johnson, have been married since July 9, 2005, and are the proud parents of Alexia, Alanah, Madison, and Erik Jr. Whether he is advocating for residents or spending quality time in the kitchen cooking for loved ones, Erik remains a man driven by a deep sense of responsibility to the community he calls home.
